Leigh Day welcomed as sponsor for two new support initiatives

April 16 2025

We are thrilled to announce a partnership with Leigh Day.

Cerebral Palsy Cymru is delighted to announce a partnership with Leigh Day, who will sponsor two new initiatives that provide positive, transformational impact to children and families living with cerebral palsy.

Leigh Day is one of The Times top 100 law firms and is ranked at the highest levels in its practice areas by the law sector’s independent directories, Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.

The first initiative is our monthly Early Mobility Group, ‘Let’s Move Together’. These group sessions will benefit young children, aged 0-3, who require additional mobility support and will provide an opportunity to engage in self-initiated exploration activities, including the use of our smart mobility platforms. The sessions aim to enhance a child’s learning, interaction and independence, and will also provide an opportunity for parents and families to socialise and provide peer support.

The second initiative which Leigh Day will sponsor is our new monthly Parents Coffee Morning Series, launched following an external review of support groups to provide increased peer support for those parents with children living with cerebral palsy, and help reduce social isolation.

The Parents Coffee Mornings will provide an opportunity to convene parents and carers and connect with our Family Support Service, as well as increasing awareness of available services and sharing lived experiences.

Announcing Leigh Day’s inaugural partnership with Cerebral Palsy Cymru, Partner Julia Reynolds, head of their Cardiff office, said:

“Cerebral Palsy Cymru is an absolute lifeline to families affected by cerebral palsy and I have lost track of the times that families have told me that they simply don’t know where they would be without them. So I was absolutely delighted when I heard of their plans to increase their offering for babies that need extra mobility support.

Sometimes families have concerns that babies will never reach some milestones like crawling and walking, to be able to support a programme which will help many babies reach these huge milestones in a baby’s life, is simply life changing. I am hugely thrilled to announce this partnership and can’t wait to see the fantastic results that this programme can achieve with the incredible therapy team at Cerebral Palsy Cymru”.

Commenting on the new partnership, Carwyn Williams, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Cerebral Palsy Cymru said:

“We’re delighted to secure Leigh Day’s support for the two new developmental service strands, which will provide targeted specialist support to those children needing mobility support, and to parents who will benefit from additional contact time and peer support from our Family Support Service. We very much look forward to building a mutually beneficial relationship for years to come”

Suzanne White, Partner and Head of Medical Negligence, Leigh Day, added:

“At Leigh Day we have for many years represented many families impacted by cerebral palsy. It is important that in addition to the work that we do on individual cases, that we also support those that are working to improve outcomes. Cerebral Palsy Cymru do just this.

The level of support and practical help that this organisation can offer families in Wales is huge. The combination of mobility therapy and peer to peer support offered by these new initiatives, was something we absolutely wanted to support. It is a privilege to be able to work with such an organisation and I am hugely proud that Leigh Day is able to help make a difference to children living with cerebral palsy, and their families in Wales.”
