Slater + Gordon Lawyers continue their support
July 26 2023
‘Better Start, Better Future’ is our specialist early intervention programme for babies who have or are at risk of having cerebral palsy. This support could not have been timelier, as we are currently seeing an increased demand for this service, with our most urgent need being funding for this core activity. Last year, 76 new babies were referred to ‘Better Start, Better Future’, which is the most referrals we have received in one year to date.
We were delighted to recently invite Julia Reynolds and Yvonne Agnew to come along and enjoy our Better Start Together Playgroup, which is open to parents and children, under 2 ½ years old, who are currently accessing our early intervention service, to celebrate their continued partnership and to give them the opportunity to see, first hand, the impact their support has on the families that use our early intervention service. During the playgroup, which is facilitated by 2 of our specialist therapists, parents have time to connect and share experiences with each other over coffee, join their child in the various purpose-designed play activities, and talk with our Family Support Coordinator, Glenys Evans. During the session, we all enjoyed exploring various sensory textures through storytelling and took turns pressing special switches to make bubbles for everyone! The families and children also enjoyed singing, signing and playing instruments together.
Our partnership with Slater + Gordon has gone from strength to strength over recent years. The Cardiff based team have got involved with any fundraising initiative and challenge we have throw their way, and we are delighted to announce that, in addition to the exceptional support that they have pledged to our early intervention service, they will also be the headline sponsor for our ‘Better Start Ball’ which will take place in October this year.
Claire Walker, Corporate Relationship Manager at Cerebral Palsy Cymru says:
The whole team from Slater + Gordan are a dream to work with. Apart from their incredible support for our early intervention service over the years, I can always rely on them to get involved with all of the fundraising initiatives we have throughout the year. From bake sales to participation in the Cardiff Half Marathon, volunteering at bucket collections and most recently headline sponsoring our annual ball. We’re thrilled that they are part of our continued journey, as we strive to be there for every family that needs us."
Julia Reynolds, Principal Lawyer shares the positive impact of the partnership that she experiences first hand day in, day out.
Slater + Gordon are absolutely delighted to extend our long-standing support of this vital programme and the work done by Cerebral Palsy Cymru. We see the impact of early intervention with the families which we help. It is really heartwarming to be a small part of what they do. Every family that we work with tells us what a difference coming to Cerebral Palsy Cymru has made to their child and their families generally. It is a privilege to continue this partnership and we look forward to seeing more families reap the benefits of their relationships with Cerebral Palsy Cymru.”
