Our Centre Director embarks on an academic visit to China!

December 08 2023

We are proud to share that our Centre Director and Consultant Physiotherapist, Jenny Caroll, recently concluded an academic visit to Hebei Children’s hospital in Shijazhuang!

From the 26th to the 30th of October, Jenny embarked on this incredible trip to China, with the goal of exchanging ideas surrounding therapy for childhood disability. Her visit was hosted by Director Yang Fan, who is a key figure in the healthcare community in Hebei province.

Jenny was given the opportunity to present a lecture to a multidisciplinary audience at the hospital, discussing “Modern Concepts in Childhood Disability”. Her trip also included essential clinical visits to the three different rehabilitation departments at Hebei Children's Hospital.

A highlight of the the trip for Jenny, was being able to work with children in the rehabilitation departments to exchange ideas and show how play can be a powerful rehabilitation tool. This visit was incredibly important, as it allowed Jenny to demonstrate and share the skills and concepts used in Wales, to therapists and doctors in China.

Reflecting on the experience, Jenny Carroll commented:

"It was remarkable to work with the children in China and demonstrate how play can be used as a highly effective therapy tool. Everyone I met was welcoming and eager to embrace new ideas."

This trip represents an important step in the right direction for international partnerships, and we look forward to getting involved in more collaborative initiatives in the future.
