blue self storage help us to celebrate National Volunteers Week
June 16 2023
At the start of June, we celebrated National Volunteers Week. This is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering in their communities.
Volunteers Week is also a chance for us to say a huge thank you to our volunteers for everything they do. As a small token of our appreciation, we put together some hampers for each of our shops which were packed full of tasty treats and personalised thank you cards for each and every one of our volunteers. We would like to say a huge thank you to our friends at blue self storage who kindly sponsored these hampers, meaning that we could give our wonderful volunteers the thank you that they deserve.
Sharon Parfitt-Jones, Storage Coordinator at blue self storage kindly delivered the hampers to our charity shops alongside Joanna Di Somma, HR & Volunteers Manager at Cerebral Palsy Cymru, and Emma Folkard, Marketing & Communications Officer at Cerebral Palsy Cymru.
Visiting each shop in turn not only gave us the opportunity to thank our volunteers in person, but also gave us the chance to catch up with them and find out more about how volunteering has had a positive impact on their lives. You can hear what they had to say by watching the short video at the bottom of this news story.
The hampers went down a real treat! One of our shop managers from our Crwys Road store commented the day after we dropped them off:
“I just wanted to say thank you so much for dropping in yesterday with the cards and hamper for the volunteers, it was a really lovely gesture.”
Sponsoring our Volunteers Week hampers is just one of the many ways that blue self storage support us and other charities across Cardiff.
Just this year, blue self storage have contributed over £6,400 to a mix of great charitable causes.
Our friends at blue self storage have been supporting us since 2019, when they kindly donated a free storage unit for us to use to safely store some of our retail donations.
Our Corporate Relationship and Fundraising Manager Claire Walker commented:
“it is a joy to work with Dean and the team at blue. They have always been so generous and can’t do enough to help. We use the storage unit that they offer free of charge, to store off season items from our 4 charity shops, so it is hugely valuable to us. Since moving to our new home in Llanishen, it is a delight to be their neighbour and to see their company grow. The company’s positivity is infectious, long may this continue.”
We are incredibly grateful for blue self storage’s continuous support, and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with them in the future.
